Adopting a Barn Cat
What is a barn cat?
Barn cats are cats who are either feral or under-socialised who would not be suitable for a traditional home environment. These cats would do best in a rural setting where they have plenty of space to roam, such as a barn or stable. They are unlikely to have any interest in being lap-cats and may desire little-to-no human interaction.
Why adopt a barn cat?
Barn cats are great for pest and vermin control, and will happily keep your property free of mice in exchange for daily food and water. They are super low-maintenance, and will certainly appreciate the opportunity to roam your property rather than sit in our shelter!
How do I adopt?
All of our barn cats are adopted in pairs so that they have a buddy during their transition into their new environment. We will select your barn cats for you, and will transport them to your property so we can help you get all set up!
Prior to adoption all of our barn cats are:
- Spayed or neutered.
- Micro-chipped.
- De-wormed.
- De-flead.
In order to adopt a barn cat you must:
- Live at least half a mile away from a main road.
- Have permanent shelter for your cat to live in, such as a barn or garage.
- Be prepared to provide any necessary medical care for the remainder of your cat’s life.
- Be willing to put out food and water daily.
